Why we like it

“A strong national line-up, a theatre seat instead of a crowded bar, and an east-end tradition that sells out every year.” — clubZone NYE editors

About this party

Orléans has its own New Year's Eve tradition, and it sells out most years. The Shenkman Arts Centre's annual comedy night is back for a fifteenth year at 9 p.m. on Thursday, 31 December in Harold Shenkman Hall, timed so you finish your evening laughing just before midnight.

The 2026 line-up is announced. D.J. Demers headlines; he's a Juno-nominated comic who has appeared on The Tonight Show and Conan and created CBC's One More Time. He's joined by Ottawa's Jenn Labelle, a teacher by day who has played the Halifax and Winnipeg comedy festivals, and Leonard Chan, a Canadian Screen Award winner who has written for Kim's Convenience and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Tickets are $65, the show is 18+, and you can buy them online through the Meridian/Shenkman box office or by phone at 613-580-2700. The venue page also mentions a package with the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa East–Orleans that includes a room and two show tickets. Buy early, because the venue says this show usually sells out.
