Why we like it

“A themed gala that actually plans for kids, with a separate supervised hall, so parents get a real night out.” — clubZone NYE editors

About this party

SocialFlix Events and Charm Events are taking New Year's Eve back to the 1920s at Layla Banquet Hall in Richmond, in Ottawa's rural west end. The Great Gatsby NYE Gala starts at 7 p.m. (doors 6:45) on Thursday, 31 December and asks guests to dress in their best vintage style.

Adults get a live DJ mixing Bollywood, techno, house, hip-hop and Spanish hits, a cash bar with signature cocktails, and poker and blackjack tables running all evening. The clever part is for parents: a separate, supervised hall for children and teens with games, competitions and prizes, so the whole family can come without anyone being bored.

Pricing is clearly laid out: $75 for an adult or $150 per couple, $50 for youth aged 10–18, $35 for kids 5–9, and free for children under five, with fees added on Eventbrite. Parking is free, which helps since Richmond is a drive from downtown. Tickets are non-refundable and space is limited. The listing shows an end time of 11:30 p.m., so confirm the countdown plans with the organizer if midnight matters to you.
