What we collect on the New Year’s Eve guide, why, and how long we keep it.

The short version

  • No advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, no third-party scripts or fonts.
  • One first-party cookie with a random ID, used only to count clicks fairly.
  • We never store your full network (IP) address in our database; we keep a scrambled version that changes every day.
  • Forms keep only what you type in them.

What we collect and why

Ticket clicks and views of featured listings. When you click “Get tickets”, or a featured listing is on your screen, we record the listing, the page, the time, a random visitor ID and a scrambled form of your network address and browser type. We use this to count clicks for producers and to filter out duplicate or automated clicks. The scrambling uses a secret that is replaced every day, so these records cannot be matched to you across days.

The visitor ID cookie (cz_vid) holds a random number, lasts up to a year and is only sent to clubZone's New Year's Eve pages.

Ticket alerts. If you sign up, we keep your email address, the city or event you chose, and when and where you agreed. We first send one email with a link to confirm; nothing else is sent until you press it, and an unconfirmed sign-up is deleted after 30 days. Every alert email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your sign-up at any time.

In December we also keep a short record of each ticket-alert email we send you, and of each send day when there was nothing new to send (the day, what it listed and whether it was delivered), so the next email only tells you what is new. Each record is deleted after 13 months.

Reports and contact messages. We keep what you write so we can fix the listing and reply. A problem report keeps your email only if you give it; the contact form asks for your name and email so we can answer, and sends your message to our support team.

Producer sign-ups. The "Promote your event" form keeps your work email, name, company, city, the spend you plan (if you pick one) and whether you want email updates. We use it to create your advertiser account and to talk to you about advertising.

Advertiser accounts. If you advertise, we keep your email address, your business or display name, the listings you claim, your ads and their settings, the province you choose for sales tax, your account balance and payment history, the update requests you send, and a record of changes made to your account. You sign in with a one-time link we email you: we store only a scrambled form of each link and of your sign-in session, never the link itself. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. We never ask for a phone number or ID documents.

Our web server also keeps standard access logs for security, for a short time.

How long we keep it

Click and view records (including views of featured listings), problem reports and contact messages are deleted after about 13 months. Alert sign-ups and producer sign-ups are kept until you ask us to delete them or they are no longer needed. For advertisers: sign-in links are deleted a day after they expire, sessions when they end, and the short-lived codes that link a featured card to its click after 48 hours. Charged clicks, the account balance history, payments and the change record are financial records, kept for 6 years. If you close your account, we sign you out everywhere and switch your ads off; the financial records stay for that period.

Sharing

We don't sell personal information. Producers who advertise see totals (views, clicks), never who clicked.

To take a card payment, we share your email address and the billing details of that payment (the amount, the taxes and the province) with Stripe, our payment processor. All the emails we send you (such as sign-in links, ticket alerts, account notices and payment confirmations) go out through Brevo, our email delivery provider.
