Why we like it

“Cheap, full of good music and in a beautiful old theatre, this is the anti-gala for people who just want to dance.” — clubZone NYE editors

About this party

Daft Disko is a themed dance party built around French touch and disco house: think Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius, Breakbot and Purple Disco Machine played back to back in a restored Kitsilano movie house. Touring promoter ORLOVE is bringing it back to the Hollywood Theatre on West Broadway, with doors at 10 pm and music until about 3 am. It's 19+. This is one of the cheapest ticketed parties in the city: the Eventbrite listing currently shows prices in US dollars at roughly US$13 to US$19 before fees. That means you can spend the money on a late dinner on Broadway instead. Expect a crowd that knows every filtered vocal hook and a set that's built for dancing rather than countdown speeches. The Hollywood is a mid-size room, so it fills up fast and feels busy without being a sweatbox.

Directions

Plan your ride home before you head out. Check TransLink's New Year's Eve service plan: late or extra service is often announced in December. Book a taxi or rideshare early, because demand peaks right after midnight, and never drink and drive.
