About this party

Québec City's big outdoor New Year's Eve is going ahead in 2026, with a new organizer. After BleuFeu ended its Toboggan festival, the City gave the job to Festival Kaléidoscopes, the free winter festival run by the team behind the German Christmas Market. The party stays at Place de l'Assemblée nationale, in front of the Parliament Building.

City planning documents describe a large participatory dance party, fireworks and a countdown in French, and the promoter expects 50,000 to 70,000 people. Kaléidoscopes received an extra $400,000 from the City to put on a large show on the night of 31 December into 1 January. It's free and open to everyone.

The line-up, start times and fireworks time haven't been announced yet; the festival says a press conference is planned for 2 November. Until then, plan for a long night standing outside in the Québec winter: wear thermal layers, boots and hand warmers, and agree on a meeting point, because phone networks often struggle in big crowds. Hotels nearby fill up fast, so book early.
