About this party

Before the big countdown, Festival Kaléidoscopes fills Old Québec with free outdoor shows every evening from 27 to 31 December. The festival, started in 2021 at the City's request, is a free, multidisciplinary winter event set up on three sites inside and just outside the walls: Place D'Youville, Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville and the Jardins de l'Hôtel-de-Ville.

On 31 December it's an easy, family-friendly way to start the night. In past years the festival wrapped up its own shows early in the evening so the crowd could head over to the main party, and this year the late show at Place de l'Assemblée nationale is part of Kaléidoscopes' own programme, so you can move from one to the other on foot.

The 2026 programme and schedule are expected in early November, and we'll add the 31 December acts here once they're out. Dress warmly, bring the kids early, and use the time to find a good spot before the crowds arrive for the countdown.

Plan your ride home before you head out. Check the RTC's New Year's Eve service plan: late or extra service is often announced in December. Book a taxi or rideshare early, because demand peaks right after midnight, and never drink and drive.
