Advertiser terms
DRAFT · Effective 2026-11-01
These terms cover Featured (sponsored) ads in the clubZone New Year's Eve guide. They are an agreement between you and Clubzone Communications Inc. ("clubZone", "we"). We kept them short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us through our contact form.
1. Your account
- You sign in with a one-time link we email you. Keep access to that inbox to yourself.
- Use a work email that belongs to the business running the event.
- You're responsible for what happens in your account and for the ads you run.
2. Your free listing comes first
- Every party in the guide has a free basic listing. You never have to pay to be listed.
- To advertise a party, you first claim its listing. We check that it's yours, either because your email matches the organizer's website or because a person on our team checks it. We may ask for proof.
3. How you pay: per click
- You pay only when someone clicks from a Featured ad through to your ticket page. Views are free.
- You set a maximum cost per click for each ad. The minimum is CA$1.00 a click.
- You usually pay less than your maximum: just enough to keep your spot ahead of the next ad, and never less than CA$1.00 or more than your maximum.
- You can set an optional daily budget. When it's used, the ad pauses until midnight in the event's city.
4. Prepaid balance
- Ads run from a prepaid balance in Canadian dollars. The minimum top-up is CA$100.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number. Your receipt is in your billing history.
- Each click is taken off your balance. An ad pauses on its own when your balance is lower than its maximum cost per click. It starts again within about a minute of a top-up.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes. Sales taxes (GST/HST, and provincial sales tax or QST where they apply) are added to your top-up based on the business province you choose, and shown on your receipt.
5. Clicks we don't charge for
We check every click. These are logged but never charged:
- the same visitor, or the same network, clicking the same listing again within 24 hours;
- known bots and automated browsers;
- more than 10 clicks an hour from the same network;
- clicks with no matching view of your ad in the last 60 minutes.
The person still goes to your ticket page. If you think we charged a click we shouldn't have, contact us through our contact form within 30 days and we'll look into it. If we agree, we put the amount back on your balance.
6. Unspent balance
- Money you don't spend stays on your account and is there for next season.
- Want it back instead? Contact us through our contact form and we'll refund the unspent balance to the card you paid with. Promo credits we gave you for free are not refundable.
7. What we show, and how
- Featured ads always carry a "Featured · Sponsored" label and appear in their own spots.
- Our editors' picks and the order of the full list are never for sale. Paying never changes them.
- Where your ad shows depends on your maximum cost per click and your quality score (how often people click it and how complete the listing is). We don't promise a spot, a number of views or a number of clicks.
- We write the listing description ourselves and keep the facts current. You can send updates with "Update my listing" in your dashboard.
8. Ads we can decline or remove
We can decline, pause or remove an ad or a listing at any time, for example if:
- the event is cancelled, sold out, already over, or not what the listing says;
- the ticket link is broken or leads somewhere other than the real ticket page;
- the content is misleading, unlawful or unsafe, or breaks someone else's rights;
- we see click fraud or abuse of the system.
If we remove an ad for a reason that isn't your fault, your unspent balance stays yours.
9. Your part
- What you tell us about your event must be true and kept up to date.
- You have the right to sell tickets to the event and to use any names, logos and photos you send us.
- You're responsible for your event and your ticket sales. clubZone doesn't sell tickets and doesn't take a cut of your sales.
10. Limits
- The guide and the ads are provided as they are. We work to keep them running, but we can't promise there will never be downtime or mistakes.
- As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email you before it applies. Continuing to run ads after that means you accept the new version.
