Why we like it

“Free early-bird entry, $5 rails before 9 pm and pool tables: a low-pressure night out that still gets you a real countdown.” — clubZone NYE editors

About this party

Petty Cash on Adelaide West is running New Year's Eve as a long, relaxed bar night, from 5 pm to 3 am, presented by Ketel One. The early shift, from 5 to 9 pm, is set up as a happy hour, with $5 rail drinks, $20 pizzas and an acoustic set by Cary Sheilds. From 9 pm until close, Jed Harper takes over. In between, there are pool tables and a photo booth to keep the group busy. The free early-bird tickets have gone, and entry on Eventbrite is now about $26 with fees, which still makes this one of the cheaper bar nights downtown. For groups, the Big Spender package is $350 plus tax and covers five tickets, a 26-ounce bottle and two pizzas. It is 19+ and sales are final. It works well for people who want a bar with friends, not a club with a cover, and who would rather arrive early and settle in.

Directions

Plan your ride home before you head out. Check the TTC and GO Transit's New Year's Eve service plan: late or extra service is often announced in December. Book a taxi or rideshare early, because demand peaks right after midnight, and never drink and drive.
