“A friendly, theme-driven queer dance party with a real DJ, at prices well below most NYE club nights.” — clubZone NYE editors
About this party
FUR is Hamilton's bear-centred dance party, and for New Year's Eve it takes over the upstairs room at the Corktown Irish Pub on Young Street from 9 pm to 2 am. The theme is black and white, so plan your outfit around it. Behind the decks is DJ Shane P, who plays Toronto's Grapefruit parties, and there is a midnight toast followed by pizza for anyone who needs fuel to make it to last call. Tickets are tiered and go up as the night gets closer: early tickets are $35, advance tickets are $40 and door entry is $50. With Eventbrite fees, the lowest online price works out to about $39. It is a queer-friendly, community-run night in a pub setting, so it feels social and unpretentious, not like a big-room club. Corktown is a short walk from the Hamilton GO Centre, which makes it easy to get home after 2 am.

Plan your ride home before you head out. Check the HSR's New Year's Eve service plan: late or extra service is often announced in December. Book a taxi or rideshare early, because demand peaks right after midnight, and never drink and drive.
